1. Creating a new layout
Step 1: Go to the layout section
Navigate to the Layout area of the platform where you can create and edit layouts.
Step 2: Create a New Layout
- Press the "New Layout" button to begin creating a new layout.
Step 3: Choose layout type
You will be given two options when creating a new layout:
- Create a Layout from Scratch: This will give you a blank canvas to build your layout from the beginning.
- Use an Existing Layout as a Basis: Select an existing layout from the dropdown to copy and modify it. This allows you to save time by starting with a template.
-
Step 4: Name the layout
- Provide a name for your layout. This name will appear in the layout switcher when you add the layout to an event or production. We recommend using descriptive names like 'Guest', 'Background', or 'Broadcast' for easy identification.
2. Building a new layout
Once the layout editor is open, you will see a blank canvas where you can begin adding content boxes. Each content box can be customized and layered on the canvas.
Step 1: Add a box
To add a new content box:
- Press the "+" button to add a new box to the layout.
- By default, the box will cover the entire canvas area (1920 x 1080 resolution).
- The new box will be placed above all existing boxes, so it will cover other boxes until resized
Note on Box Layering
- The last box added will always be placed on top (highest layer).
- If you don't see other boxes, it's likely because the new box is covering them. To view the underlying boxes, you should:
- Adjust the width and height of the box.
- Change its position on the canvas.
Step 2: Customize the Box
After adding a box, you can customize its properties. The left panel in the editor displays all the layers, and you can select a box to modify its settings.
-
Select a Box:
- Click on the box in the left bar to select it. The selected box will be highlighted with a white border.
- Note: If you don’t see the white border, the box may be covered by another. Resize the boxes to bring it into view.
-
Box Parameters:
-
Type:
- Choose the content type for the box: Video or Graphic.
- Each type will offer different configuration options.
-
-
Name:
- Assign a name to the box. This name will be shown in the layout switcher when applying content to the box. Recommended names are 'guest', 'background', or 'broadcast'.
-
Position:
- Define the horizontal and vertical position of the box on the canvas.
- Important: If the box is set to full-screen size, these position settings will not take effect until you adjust the width and height.
-
Size of the Box:
- Adjust the width and height of the box as needed.
- If you want to maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio, enable the 16:9 ratio option. This will automatically set the height based on the width you specify.
-
Fit Content:
- If the content inside the box does not match the box's size, use the Fit Content option to define how the content should be positioned (center, start, or end).
-
Video Boxes Only - Show Label:
- For video boxes, you have the option to show a label with the name of the video stream. This is particularly useful for displaying guest names, talent, or casters.
- Customize the label’s appearance (font, size, color, and padding) to match the layout's design.
-
Step 3: Change Layout Order (Z-Index)
To adjust the layering order of boxes:
- In the left panel, click and drag the box you want to reorder.
- The Z-index will automatically update, changing the layering order.
3. Save Layout
-
Automatic Save:
Changes made to the layout are saved automatically to prevent any loss of progress. -
Exiting the Layout Editor:
You can leave the layout editor at any time, and all changes will be safely stored.
4. Edit an Existing Layout
To edit an existing layout:
-
Locate the Layout:
- In the layout list, hover over the layout you want to edit. The edit button (pencil icon) will appear.
-
Edit the Layout:
- Click on the edit button to open the layout in the editor. From there, you can make changes to the layout and its content.
Important Notes for Edited Layouts:
-
If the layout is being used in an existing production or template, any changes you make will not be automatically reflected in those productions or templates.
-
To apply the changes:
- Remove the layout from the event/template.
- Re-add the layout to the event/template to ensure the changes are applied.
-
For new events where the layout is added, changes will take effect immediately.
5. Using Layouts in the Switcher
Once you have created and customized your layout, you can use it in the switcher to manage and display content during live productions.
Step 1: Add Layout to Switcher
- In the switcher panel, click on the "+" button under the preview/program section to add content.
- Select "Layout" as the content type.
- Choose the layout you want to add from the list of available layouts.
Step 2: Fill in Content for Each Box
After selecting the layout, you will be directed to a panel where you can fill in the content for each box in the layout.
Step 3: Add Content to Boxes
-
Add Content to Boxes:
- For each box in the layout, click the "+" button to add content.
- Select the content you have already uploaded, or click “Add Media” to add new content.
-
Content Types:
- Video Content: For video content (e.g., streams, talent), ensure that the content has already been added to the switcher beforehand.
- Graphics and Other Media: For other types of content like graphics, you can directly add them without sacrificing a scene box in the switcher by using the “Add Media” button.
